Still Life with Ranunculus in a very nice jug.
Ranunculus or buttercups are at the top of of my favourite-flowers list. They are multi-coloured, beautiful, fragile and just happy. I made this painting to put some flowers in a place where there maybe are not. Through history they played roles in Persian and Native American legends. The flowers were tied to old stories of a lovestruck Persian prince, as well as a Native American coyote whose eyes were snatched by an eagle. It was also used by Native Americans as medicinal plants which they dried Ranunculus and used to get rid of warts and treat muscle pains.
