About Me
Artist Biography
I was born in the spring of 1972 in Helsinki, Finland. Not long after, my family moved to Tswane, and then later to Bloemfontein, where I spent most of my childhood. I went to school at Oranje Girls’ High, where we had a beautiful art classroom complete with a garden and a fountain and it was there that I first fell in love with making art.
I studied Fine Arts at the University of the Free State and somehow emerged (mostly in one piece) with a deep respect for visual storytelling, and my first small business. That marked the start of my career in design and advertising.

After moving to Cape Town in 1996, I founded my own creative studio and spent many years working as a Graphic Designer and Creative Director. Eventually, I returned to painting, reconnecting with the slower rhythm, presence, and emotional clarity that only art seems to offer.

I work mainly in oils on canvas, and my subject matter is deeply rooted in nature. I’m drawn to the cycles of growth and decay, the quiet drama of trees, flowers, and the human form.
These days, I live in Kalk Bay with my husband, two teenagers, and two enormous staffies.

Artist Statement
Painting is my way of noticing. Nature is my starting point – its colours, cycles, and quiet lessons  but it’s the deeper truths hiding in plain sight that really draw me in.
I work primarily in oils and often choose to mix my colours as little as possible. Instead, I layer them like a printmaker might, letting each hue speak for itself. This process allows me to leave my human interpretation visible, a kind of dialogue between what I see and what I feel.
I’m fascinated by the intersection of life and impermanence. There’s something both eerie and comforting in how quietly things come and go, how fragile we are, and yet how much beauty persists. The things we feel and see are what surpass mortality. I try to hold that space in my work.
Colour, to me, is a gift – a bridge between nature’s world and mine.
