Ancestor

This sleeping tree trunk reminded me of an ancient forest ancestor, his long beard falling around him, with his companions resting at his feet. In his lap, new growth is already beginning to emerge. There is something universal in the stories nature tells us. In the forest, there is no need for language; communication happens quietly through the soil, through roots and through the intricate networks that connect one life to another.
He is home. He lived here, died here, and in his death he becomes part of what comes next. His body returns to the forest, nourishing the generations that follow. Nothing is truly lost; it is transformed, carried forward through the living system of the forest.
