Into the Woods – Solus
A Quiver Tree in ‘solus’ – there is extreme loneliness in the Namakwaland landscape. It made me think about being alone, how it can be a blessing to some and a state of abandonment to others. These trees are super light and you can pick an entire tree trunk by yourself which shows how little weight they carry. When we’re alone we shed alot of society pressures and things are light and easy. This painting is a tribute to those moments when we can be alone without feeling abandoned – those moments we can soak up what’s around us without interference.
