Into the Woods – Motley
These motley trunks growing in the Alphen woods reminded me of old friends, all different in appearance and character but in harmony with each other. Their distinct trunks painted in earthy browns, deep purples, and soft greys beneath a muted sky. Each trunk is different in colour and texture like old friends with unique stories, but bound by a deep, silent harmony. Their roots weave together beneath the soil, a shared origin grounding their differences. Though some will endure for decades and others may fall to fire or axe, the cycle continues, new life will rise to take their place. Now, they rest in winter’s stillness, leafless but not lifeless, sleeping beneath the grey light, waiting for the sun’s return.
