After Winter

After Winter began as a simple longing for warmer days. Living through a Cape Town winter, I found myself thinking about places where light feels endless and the air carries the scent of salt and palms. But while painting it, I realised it wasn’t really about a tropical beach. It was about what summer represents – a feeling of openness, ease and possibility. Like much of my work, it became less about describing a place and more about painting an emotional landscape.
