Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea creepers are known for their vibrant and colourful bracts, which are often mistaken for flowers. These bracts come in a variety of shades including pink, purple, red, and orange, adding a burst of color to any garden or landscape. 

Bougainvilleas are drought-tolerant plants, making them a popular choice for gardens in arid regions. They are also known for their rapid growth and can be trained to climb walls, fences, or trellises, adding a touch of beauty and charm to any space. Is also the national flower in Grenada.

In our garden it serves as both a security measure as well as a welcoming bouquet of flowers. It grows all around our house in the striking coloured bracts against a backdrop of lush green foliage. There is a beautiful contrast between the delicate, papery texture of the flowers and the sturdy, woody vines that support them.
